2023 MIXED PARTNER CHAMPIONSHIP

Rules for 2023 Mixed Partner Championship on

Mountain View Golf Course, Saturday, August 19th, 2023 - Shotgun start at 8am.

This is an 18 hole team event with each team consisting of one WMGA member and one WWGA member.

To be eligible to win the Championship, the male partner MUST play from the white tees.

Players using the white tees will be in a separate flight(s) from players using the green tees. There will be prizes for low gross and low net.  Awards will be determined by the number of participating teams.

ELIGIBILITY. Each player must have a USGA established handicap index and be a member of WWGA or WMGA for the 2022 season.

FORMAT.  Chapman. Each team consists of one member of the WWGA and one member of the WMGA.  Each partner plays from the teeing ground and plays their partner's ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.

TEES: Women – GOLD; Men – WHITE or GREEN

HANDICAP.  Regardless of their actual handicap, all WWGA and WGMA members meeting the eligibility requirements may enter this tournament. Course Handicaps (CH) exceeding 35 for men playing from the white tees, 31 for men playing from the green tees and 39 for women from the gold tees will be adjusted to these caps. Actual/adjusted CHs will be further adjusted downward according to the USGA rules for this format. The lower handicap player will receive 60% of their CH and the higher player will receive 40% of their CH.

SCORING and PRIZES.  Each team records only the team gross for each hole. The championship goes to the team with lowest gross score.  Dependent upon participation, additional awards beyond the Championship Low Gross will be made for low gross and low net. Teams may receive only one award.   There will be an optional $5 for closest-to-the-pin for the par 3s (holes 3, 9, 11, & 13) for men and women, separately (only first ball hit counts), and an optional $5 for a 50/50 drawing.

Tournament entry fee is the usual $10 per person.

Players may use Local Rule E5 with a 2 shot penalty for lost or out of bound balls.

TIE BREAK. If there is a tie for low gross after 18 holes, there will be a sudden death playoff.  If there is a tie for low net, the lowest net score on the back 9 will determine the winner.  If still a tie, the lowest net score on the last 6 holes will be used, then the last 3 holes, then the 18th hole, then each previous hole until the tie is broken.

DROP AREAS. Drop areas MAY NOT be used.

ENTERING SCORE INTO THE HANDICAP COMPUTER.  Scores are NOT entered into the handicap computer.
